OK, so this not a form, but it is important! We would like all of you to develop a set of ‘kit’. As a basic starter list we would suggest the following. If you don’t have the stuff don’t panic, but maybe if you have birthdays coming up, you could think of some of this stuff. When the winter/colder weather arrives, we will insist on a minimum amount of kit I’m afraid. Also, any activities we undertake outside will take place outside! If it’s raining, wear waterproofs!

A starter list then…..

Something to eat

Something to drink

A fleece/jumper

Gloves

Hat

Waterproofs

Walking boots

First aid kit

Headtorch (or other torch, with batteries!)

Survival bag

A rucksack to put it all in…………. not too bad is it?

If we go on a camp or away otherwise, then we will give you a bigger kit-list.

There are several activities coming up in the next couple of months.

Keep an eye on the diary, but as a ‘heads up’, there is going to be a shooting competition, a sand castle building competition, loads of walks, including an extended hike, to get you all going on the ‘hikes’ staged badge. Get those blister plasters ready!

We have a mobile number now, it’ll be on when we are out and about doing stuff, obviously this will be completely dependant upon signal! You should all have had a message about the number.

It does mean that us leaders don’t have to worry about our mobiles getting dropped in a puddle though, which is nice. It has a much better battery than my smart-phone as well, HTC are not famed for their batteries, but the old Nokia brick seems to last forever!

Sandcastle competition, next Tuesday at Burnham. Does anyone fancy coming along and building a ‘Transport’ themed sand castle?

Looks we have enough interest to confirm the gliding, now we just need to confirm some nice weather.

I have done a bit of gliding, my top tips….. don’t panic on the way up, don’t listen for a change in the engine sound and don’t try and get out.

It’s an amazing thing to do, and I hope we all really enjoy it!

Hopefully, we have a shedload of sponsorship money coming our way, why do I have the feeling that that may not be the case. Oh well, every little helps I suppose!

Shooting competition

Is anyone up for this? 17th July, somewhere near Butleigh, I guess somewhere with a big open field and a safety bunker, if the shooting at Jamboree is anything to go by! I would definitely be wearing a tin helmet and a flak jacket if I were you.

I think the forms have to be back sharpish, so get going on it if you fancy taking part, let Julie know about this one please.

Packed her trunk and said goodbye to the circus, but we are going to be packing ours and saying hello to the circus!

Swimming Trunks
Sleeping bag, blanket and pillow
Sleeping mat, ground sheet
Toilet requisites (soap in box)
Towel and tea towel
Hairbrush and comb
Plate, bowl, mug, cutlery etc in a cloth bag
Torch and spare batteries
Pen, pencil and notebook
Personal (small) first aid kit
Plastic bag for dirty clothes
Small game if wanted (brought at own risk) NOT Electronic
Cake in Tin
String for gadgets
2 Welly sticks
Packed lunch in a lunch box
Drink in a reusable bottle
Small Rucksack for day hike

All medicines, to be labelled clearly with name and instructions and passed to the First Aider on arrival

No Penknives
No Radios, or electronic toys.
