Post office services in Worle

sainsworleIf you need a Post Office in the coming weeks whilst Cheddar doesn’t have one, you may find this useful.

If you are travelling on the free Sainsbury’s bus to the Worle Store there is a sub post office just outside the rear of the store, café side (see Google Streetview image) which may be of use. Lucille Simms our Village Agent has confirmed with them that all services except TV licence and ‘top-ups’ are provided there. These additional services are available in Martin McColls almost next door to the post office.

Remember you will need a Sainsbury’s receipt for the return trip.

Somerset Art Weeks

imageSomerset Art Weeks will be starting on 3rd October until 18th October.

During the festival there will be two venues open in Cross, which we hope you will visit.

Venue 93 features the work of Andrea Oke and Juliet Arnison and can be found at Marcombe, Old Coach Road Cross. (just round the corner from the Village Hall) We will be showing a selection of our works from Juliet’s laser cuts to my printmaking and drawing and will be open every day, except Mondays, from 11am. On Sunday 11th October there will be a charity afternoon tea which we hope some of you will support.

Juliet and I will be at the studio throughout the festival and would love to discuss our work, or just have a chat with any of you who come along. You can find out more about our work at our website

At Venue 92 you can see the work of John Richardson. Johns studio can be found at Greenacres, Old Coach Road, which is in between the New Inn and The Lamb. John is a very talented painter and will open his studio every day from 11am although he is able to make private appointments if required. As a successful artist and illustrator John has many interesting stories to tell and a vast amount of technical skill which I a sure he would love to share with you.

We do hope you will drop into the venues and support us.

Many thanks

Andrea Oke

New web site!

cheddar2015_roundlogoIt’s been a while but the site has had a bit of a refresh. The new header image was taken on a church tower open day, and there’s also a new logo. Some outdated information has been removed and some analysis has been done of little-used pages which have also been taken out or combined with others.

It’s still a work in progress so you will see some more changes over the coming weeks and months, as pages get tidied up but hopefully it will be a bit easier to find what you are looking for, be a bit neater, and more appealing to advertisers, without whom the site will totally go down the tubes.

If you have a local business to promote please hop over to the sponsorship page to find out more about getting an ad spot on one of the pages.

Also, if you have any news or events to share please send it over and it can be posted on here and also tweeted.

If you have any problems with the site, spot any broken links or have new information to add, please send a message via the contact form.
